Riau: Malay Traditional House

A. Brief Information

Riau Malay Traditional House is fully decorated with beautiful carvings, and colorful woven cloth with special motifs of Riau Malay. The building has two storeys which are functioned for customary activities and all relating to the mores of Riau Malay culture. Moreover, the conferment of Malay custom title for governmental official is held in this place.

B. Distinctive Features

You will see the elegance of the building which has special characteristics depicting the glory of Riau Malay in the past. Both on the right and the left side of the building, you can read four points of Gurindam 12, one of the most valuable works of Raja Ali Haji. In addition, the other points of Gurindam 12 - point five to twelve - are written on the wall in the main room. On the second floor, you can also discover the other works of Raja Ali Haji. You will not only experience cultural tourism but you will also see the natural view and the fresh atmosphere  of surrounding area.

Riau Malay Traditional House lies on Pangeran Diponegoro Street, No. 39, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, Indonesia.

It can be easily accessed by any public transportation as its location in the center of Pekanbaru City.

Free.
